ORGANIZING YOUR HOME IN THE NEW YEAR
Let’s do something different this year and switch from New Year’s Resolutions to New Year’s Intentions. Instead of setting unrealistic goals, let’s try and go calmly into 2026!
The reason I don’t like New Year’s Resolutions is the fact that 80-90% fail by the end of January. Face it, we’re just coming off of the busiest time of the year and now we want to bombard ourselves with unrealistic goals? Resolutions make you feel like if you don’t achieve your goal of weight loss, home organizing etc., that you’ve failed and are not good enough. You need to be ready to change and make new habits so you don’t set yourself up for failure. Sometimes you need to be able to adjust as you go. Intentions give you that flexibility where Resolutions are pretty hard and fixed goals.
Keep It Simple
Don’t set more than 2 or 3 Intentional goals for the year. Know that life will change and it’s okay to readjust your goals.
I’ve had clients tell me that they want their entire home organized by February 1. As a Professional Home Organizer my suggestion is always to start small. Let’s pick one area in your home to declutter and organize. Visualize what you want that space to look like and what the Intention of that goal is. For instance, maybe that “junk drawer” is overwhelming to you and you can’t find anything. That would be a great place to start. I can help guide you to achieve your goals by helping you form new organizing habits because I am your accountability buddy. I am here to help you through the tough spots. We’re trying to focus on progress and not perfection. Positive outcomes build confidence!
Intentional: Something done on purpose with a clear plan or design
Intentional Organizing for the New Year is a mindful approach to decluttering and organizing your life, home or schedule. It involves making deliberate choices about what to keep and creating systems that remove clutter and distractions for a more peaceful environment. When we do Intentional Organizing, then it becomes habit and part of our daily life.
Cheers to a more Intentional Happy New Year!
